Update from GES

Computerized School Selection and placement System 2023 Text for Confirmation of Students’ School Choices.

Management of the Ghana Education Service wishes to inform students, staff, parents/guardians and stakeholders that this year’s school placement exercise begins with the Verification of Students School choices.

This verification process is to ensure accuracy in student’s choice information before they are placed in their selected Second cycle Schools.

Students, parents/guardians will receive SMS message from the CSSPS which contains web portal; https//csspsverify.com and USSD short code *899*88# with 4 digit token number

The verification Exercise commences today 14th January, 2023.

Students who may have errors in their initial selection should call 0556541525 or click on the edit button available on the web portal after their selection details displayed with copy of the original selection form.

Students can also send an email with the copy of the original selection form to cssps2021@gmail.com

It is not a change of school but confirmation of initial choice selected.

CSSPS; Computerized School Selection and Placement System,

Is a system used by the Ghana Education Service (GES) to Place Junior High School Students into the various Senior High Schools and Technical/ Vocational Schools in the Country.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE 2023 PLACEMENT

Number of Choice of Schools to select increased to six (6)
TVET Schools included are 139
Compulsory Day School Selection, 120 Schools out.
One compulsory Technical Programme Expunged

FREE TVET FOR ALL PROGRAMME

From the 2022 Academic Year, All JHS graduates who gain admissions into any GES-Technical and Vocational School benefits from the Government’s Flagship programme ”FREE TVET FOR ALL”

There are Currently 186 Technical and Vocational Schools ready to run the free programme to certificate II level.

WHAT MUST BE KNOWN

Schools are grouped into categories.

Public SHS are grouped into

A: Overly subscribed Schools, 71 Schools

B: Averagely Subscribed Schools, 239 Schools

C: Under Subscribed Schools, 555 Schools

D: All catchment Area Day School, 865

SELECTION AND PLACEMENT

Six (6) Subjects are used for Selection and Placement, thus Four core + Two best)

Aggregate and Raw Scores of candidates are used as well.

HOW TO CHOOSE SCHOOLS

Choose six (6) schools 1st to 6th Choice

Can select 1st to 5th choice school from combination of A B and C

Must select programme and accommodation for each selected School

Must choose a compulsory Day as a 6th choice

Must list 1st to 5th choice in order of preference

For those who will wish to offer purely TVET programme, must choose all six(6) Schools from Category A. B, and C as Day or Boarding.

Must choose only one(1) school in Category A

Must select only two(2) schools from Category B

Can select as many as Five(5) Schools from Category C and one (1) from Category D(Day)

MODE OF SELECTION OF SCHOOLS

FOR BECE CANDIDATES (REGULAR)

Select six(6) Schools of your choice for placement and forward to your head Teacher who will also Forward them to the District or Metro Education Office.

FOR PRIVATE CANDIDATES

Private Candidates must select their School choices online via

Date for selection as given earlier will be confirmed and announced when the portal is ready

FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS

Foreign students must purchase foreign student application form, fill and submit to the Director for schools and Instructions at GES headquarters, Accra.

PLACEMENT PROCEDURE

Placement is by merit

Schools and programme options are linked

when there is a tie between candidates for a particular school, raw scores will be used to choose one.
