2025/2026 Academic Calendar for Basic Schools in Ghana
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released the approved academic calendar for the 2025/2026 school year, covering Kindergarten, Primary, and Junior High Schools (JHS). Here are the key dates:

First Term:

In School: 2nd September – 18th December 2025 (15 weeks)

Vacation: 19th December 2025 – 7th January 2026

In School: 8th January – 1st April 2026 (12 weeks)

Vacation: 2nd April – 20th April 2026

Third Term:

In School: 21st April – 23rd July 2026 (13 weeks)

Vacation: End of Academic Year (for KG–JHS 2)

JHS 3 Students: The Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will take place from 4th–11th May 2026.

Mid-Term Breaks:

First Term: 31st October – 3rd November 2025 (2 days)

All public holidays are to be observed as per national guidelines.
Regional Directors have been instructed to ensure strict adherence to the calendar for a smooth academic year.
