Exams Malpractice and Impersonation in the Ongoing WASSCE- New Measures WAEC taken to continue the papers.

The West African Senior High school Examination ( Ghana only Version) is ongoing and has entered the fifth week with the conduct of two core papers, social studies and English Language to be administered on 5th and 8th September, 2022 respectively.

Here are emerging issues identified by WAEC and the measures to tackle them.

Restriction of Access to school Compounds for monitoring Purposes

Some schools have locked their school gates preventing WAEC Officials from entering the compound, and this is for one thing, to cheat, WAEC advices them to desist from such acts before it’s too late.

Smuggling of Mobile Phones into Examination Halls by Candidates

Some students have been caught with their mobile phones in the examination hall. All candidates are reminded that, mobile phones in the exams hall will lead to the cancellation of their entire results.

Invigilators are reminded they are not to send their mobile phones to the examination hall.

Impersonation

Impersonation cases are on the rise, some impersonators have been arrested in the ongoing examination and are in the grips of the law. Supervisors are advised to use the Biometric Verification Device ( vericheck) to Identify Candidates.

Syndicate cheating in schools

WAEC has received information indicating some school authorities have collected monies from candidates to aid them cheat, the GES and National Intelligence Bureau are on the lookout for such perpetrators, schools authorities are advised to desist from such act. Candidates caught will have their entire results cancelled.
