The date is fast approaching for our Year 2 Subject-Specific Professional Learning Community (SSPLC) Handbook training of school level coordinators. As usual, we’ll run the training at 11 centers across the Central Region. This initiative, spearheaded by the Ghana Education Service (GES), aims to equip teachers with the tools to develop learning plans and address challenging topics in assessment, differentiation, and digital literacy for the new Senior High School (SHS) curriculum.
According to the official letter from GES Headquarters, the national roll-out of these Year 2 handbooks is part of an ongoing effort to enhance professional development in Senior High Schools. The training will help facilitators support teachers in conducting weekly PLC sessions in their schools. Key guidelines include:
- Each school nominates a maximum of 5 facilitators and a teacher dedicated to Intervention Mathematics and Intervention English (if applicable).
- Nominated teachers must teach in Year 1 or Year 2.
- Participants should bring a functional laptop and ensure they can use it.
- Selected participants must have skills to lead PLC sessions.
The workshops are scheduled in three batches nationwide:
