Alert to Government to pay PDA

The surprising thing nobody turned their mind to was, the Teacher Unions telling the government to pay the Professional Allowance before 31st December 2022.

If it’s the responsibility of the government to pay the Professional Development allowance, why do they have to remind GES/ Government and also add it to their reason for the strike action they took against the appointment of the New Director General?

Some believe it’s well negotiated hence there is no reason the government won’t pay.

Currently, the strike reasons are still pending Update on the Teachers’ Strike; Meeting with NLC on 16th November and the 8% matters

There are also salary negotiations ongoing Explanations to the NLC 10% Minimum wage and 15 % COLA for 2023

The Labour unions earlier proposed a 60% Base pay increment whilst the Government is meeting them at 12%.

Conclusions have not been made yet and the Public sector workers are fully behind their unions for a better salary increment.

Some even suggested their salaries are pegged to the US Dollar to curtail the drastic depreciation of the salary.
