BECE REGISTRATION OF (JHS1 AND JHS2 STUDENTS) WARNING TO SCHOOLS -GES

BASIC EDUCATION CERTIFICATE EXAMINATION (BECE) FOR SCHOOL CANDIDATES,
2023 REGISTRATION OF UNQUALIFIED STUDENTS (JHS1 AND JHS2 STUDENTS)

The Management of the Ghana Education Service wishes to remind all Heads of Basic Schools (both public and private) that registration of JHS1 and JHS2 for the BECE is ILLEGAL. Registration of candidates for the BECE is strictly for students in Junior High School Form Three (JHS3) only.

It is against the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the West African Examinations Council’s (WAEC) Rules and Regulations to register JHS1 and JHS2 students either in their own schools or in different schools to write the BECE.

Also, it is ILLEGAL for any Head of public basic school to register JHS3 students from another school (public or private) to write the BECE.

Please, note that there will be an audit of the BECE registered candidates immediately after the registration exercise. Any student found to have been registered illegally will have his/her registration NULLIFIED by WAEC, and the Headteacher involved will be severely sanctioned to serve as a deterrent to others.

The period for the registration of the candidates which will be set by WAEC should be strictly complied with to avoid late registration. Reason for the Official Release ( reaffirmation ) of BECE Date by GES

By this letter, Regional Directors of Education are requested to communicate this information to Metro/Municipal/District Directors of Education to inform all Heads of Basic Schools to take note and comply with the above directives to ensure a smooth BECE registration exercise
