FUTURE OF OUR FIRST BATCH STUDENTS OF THE COMMON CORE PROGRAMME WHO WILL ATTAIN DIPLOMA CERTIFICATE AFTER SHS IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR – NATIONAL COUNCIL OF PRIVATE SCHOOL TEACHERS

As the Executive Director of the National Council of Private School Teachers (N-COPST) and also School administrator and ICT/Computing teacher, I can talk on authority that private schools who deny their Computing teachers (JHS Department) from attending CPD on Computing Subject under the Common Core Programme are not doing their students well and hardly can their students pass the Diploma examination at the end of SHS

It is clear that JHS Computing teachers are not given the students the required content even though they follow NaCCA approved Computing textbooks. These computing textbooks approved by NaCCA are of theory content where the sub-strands in the computing curriculum demand practical. Besides, most schools do not have computers to teach the subject and the teachers in question also lack effective improvisation skills

Private Schools are advised to desist from the idea that, training their teachers will be in vain because the teachers will leave for different school.

N-COPST has a solution to this challenge. Just register your teachers to be part of N-COPST, pay their dues from their salary and we will train them for free.

On the other hand, evidence shows that, Computing teachers do not have control over most of the sub-strands in the computing curriculum.

The following topics are done in theory manner which is wrong approach and as soon as possible, private schools should make sure to register their teachers to be members of N-COPST to receive FREE training on all the aspects (subjects) to shape the skills of their teachers
A. Artificial intelligence
B. Programming
C. Database
D. Robotics
E. Web technology
