On 15th February 2023, Education Ministry Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum joined H.E Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to commission the National Children and Mobile Library situated at Airport Residential Area.

The National Children’s Library which happens to be the 13th public library in Greater Accra Region has an early childhood sector for children between the ages of 2 to 5 years, a children sector for children aged between 6 to 12 years, a teen sector for 13 to 19-year-olds, ICT center, indoor playground, office space, and a parent waiting room.

The facility is disability friendly and is fully equipped with 22,000 books and 24 tablets alongside free Wi-Fi.

The Mobile Library also has 1500 books and 20 laptops for children in remote areas who may not be able to access the National Children Library.

The Ministry extends its gratitude to SSNIT and Ghana Library Authority for responding to our call to support developing education in this country by putting up this wonderful edifice.

We believe initiatives like this if emulated by other corporate entities will help in ensuring that majority of our children have access to books in their communities.

The Ministry and the library authority will collaborate to provide transportation so students can get access to this library to aid them develop a reading culture.
