The Success Of 256 Candidates Who Sued G.E.S Over Promotion Failure Can’t Be Confirmed.
The current status quo of the court battle between 256 teachers who sued the Ghana Education Service over their failure in the last promotion exam seems to continue unabated.
According to a social media message in circulation which could not be confirmed by our team “the embattled 256 candidates who sat for teachers’ promotion exams, 230 have been declared successful after the Minister of Education ordered for remaking which means about 90% are through leaving 26 who couldn’t make it“.
In a further check on the websites of all the major traditional media houses in the country, there is no indication of such a news about the success of the 256 candidates or even whether their exam scripts have been referred for remarking.
Verdict: The news that “the embattled 256 candidates who sat for teachers’ promotion exams, 230 have been declared successful after the Minister of Education ordered for remarking which means about 90% are through leaving 26 who couldn’t make it,” remains a rumour and not a fact.

Background
The group took legal action against the GES, on Wednesday 23rd November, 2021 seeking redress to their exam results which they claim were forged.
The teachers, who are on the Assistant Director Grade II position, sat for the Assistant Director Grade I promotion examination at the Ada Training College Centre.
The group called for a halt in the 2022 Promotion Exams until their case is settle.
The Group of Teachers raised serious issues which includes the Pass Marks for Promotion Exams, The Score for a candidate and other.
Mr. Oheneba Akyea Mensah, a representative of the teachers, said the issue had affected them psychologically, emotionally, and physically, making it difficult for them to properly discharge their duties as teachers.
Mr. Mensah said during the exams, some of the applicants did not have index numbers and were asked to use their staff numbers, adding that one was also absent while another got involved in an accident but all of them were declared as failed.
He said they wanted to set a precedent, as this was not the first time such an incident had occurred.
The Group also blames their Unions for Abandoning them.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Education Called the GES to look into the matter and address it appropriately.
According to the Minister of Education, the Newly appointed Director General is to help with these kind of promotion issues.
