GEOGRAPHY TEACHER

JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Geography Teacher to join our dynamic team at Ghana International School. As a Geography Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality geography lessons to students in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. You will inspire and engage students in the study of various geographical concepts, such as physical geography, human geography, and environmental issues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated geography lessons to students in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, following the school’s curriculum guidelines.

Utilize a variety of teaching strategies to cater to the diverse learning styles and abilities of students.

Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and promotes curiosity about the world.

Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and guidance to support their academic development.

Use a range of assessment methods to evaluate student performance, including tests, projects, presentations, and class discussions.

Maintain accurate records of student attendance, achievements, and behavior.
Collaborate with colleagues to contribute to the development and improvement of the geography curriculum.

Stay updated with the latest developments in the field of geography and incorporate relevant resources and technology into lessons.

Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and subject knowledge.

EDUCATION:

Applicants for the above teaching positions must have a Bachelor of Education in the relevant subject area from an accredited and recognized University or;
A First Degree with a Qualified Teacher Status and/or post-graduate teaching certification (PGCE/PGDE) from an accredited and recognized University.

● EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of three (3) years post qualification teaching experience in the relevant subject area at the academic level Key stage 3 & 4 is required.
Proven experience in teaching the Cambridge IGCSE and A-level Geography curriculum is essential.
Familiarity with educational technology and a willingness to integrate it into teaching practices.
Working experience in a multi-cultural environment in an International educational institution is a plus.

● KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to create engaging and interactive lesson plans that cater to the needs of a diverse student population.

Abreast with the ability to plan, coordinate and execute field studies in all geographical environments.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.

A passion for geography and the ability to inspire students to develop a love for the subject.
An innovative and creative approach to providing an outstanding education.
The ability to inspire, challenge, support and empower students and colleagues towards excellence.

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish good working relationships across the school community.

• PRIMARY SCHOOL ART TEAC

HERS (Key Stage 1 & 2) EDUCATION:

Applicants for the above teaching positions must have a Bachelor of Education in the relevant subject area from an accredited and recognized University or;  A First Degree with a Qualified Teacher Status and/or post-graduate teaching certification (PGCE/PGDE) from an accredited and recognized University.

• EXPERIENCE:

o A minimum of three (3) years post qualification teaching experience in the relevant subject area at the academic level is required.

o Experience in teaching at the Early Years is desirable for key stage.

o Be competent in the use of ICT to deliver engaging lessons.

o Working experience in a multi-cultural environment in an International educational institution is a plus.

• KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

o A motivated individual with a keen interest in encouraging and inspiring students to learn and
to excel.

o An innovative and creative approach to providing an outstanding education.

o The ability to inspire, challenge, support and empower students and colleagues towards excellence.

SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS COORDINATOR (Key Stage 3 & 4)
  • KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Assist the Vice-Principal in identifying student’s special educational needs.
  2. Demonstrate and monitor effective differentiation in the classroom.
  3. Identify and assess students deemed to have special educational needs (to include gifted students).
  4. Draw up, monitor and implement Individual Education Plans (IEP) for targeted children.
  5. Coordinate regular IEP review meetings.
  6. Identify and access outside agencies where applicable.
  7. Manage resources related to special educational needs.
  8. Initiate and/or take part in staff training and special needs awareness programs.
  • EDUCATION:
  1. A University degree from an accredited/certified institution with special education endorsement, preferred.
  2. Must have had, within the last ten (10) years, a minimum of five (5) years of successful experience as a special education teacher or coordinator.
  • EXPERIENCE:
  1. Experience of teaching and supporting students with SEN is essential.
  2. Creating, implementing, and monitoring individual education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
  3. Work collaboratively with other educators, administrators, and parents to provide the best possible support for students with special needs.
  4. Developing and adapting curriculum materials to meet the unique needs of students with special needs.
  5. Knowledge of best practices in special education, including evidence-based instructional strategies and interventions.
  6. Experience in teaching the Cambridge IGCSE and A-level is desirable for Key Stage 3&4.
  7. Working experience in a multi-cultural environment in an International educational institution is a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Curriculum development and modification skills, with the ability to develop and adapt materials to meet the unique needs of students with special needs.
  2. Assessment and evaluation skills, with the ability to conduct assessments and evaluations to determine students’ strengths, weaknesses, and learning needs.
  3. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish good working relationships across the school community.
  4.  Excellent communication in English (written and spoken) and presentation skills.
  5. Problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address barriers to student learning and success.
  6. Technology skills, with the ability to use technology and assistive technology to support student learning and engagement.

FRENCH & SPANISH TEACHER (Key Stage 2)

  • EDUCATION:
