Do you wish to mark the WASSCE and or the BECE, then this is how you can apply to become an Assistant Examiner.

Qualification for appointing Examiners for The West African Examinations Council marking exercise

Possess a minimum of first degree or its equivalent in a field related to the subject you wish to examine;

Have a minimum of two years post-teaching experience preferably in a Senior Secondary School; For WASSCE Examiners and teaching experience in Basic School if Applying to Mark BECE.

Teaching in the SHS can easily make you Mark both BECE and WASSCE provided you’ve qualified in that subject Area.

Possess thorough knowledge of the subject you wish to examine; Check Eligibility below.

Complete the prescribed application form;

Go along with the credentials to the marking center for sighting and attach photocopies to the completed application form;

You must be a person of high integrity, therefore there must be an attestation to your character from the current employer

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE IN GHANA

BECE

Post-Secondary Teachers’ Certificates obtained from recognized Colleges of Education/institutions with a minimum of five (5) years post-qualification teaching experience in the relevant subjects.

Diploma and degree holders must have graduated in the subjects they wish to mark and must have taught those subjects for a minimum of three (3) years.

(2) WASSCE, GBCE, AND ABCE

Degrees in the subjects applied for, obtained from recognized universities or institutions with a minimum of three years post-qualification teaching experience in the subjects.

Those applying for Literature-In-English at WASSCE must be familiar with the set books being used now for the subject.

Applicants must, in addition, be computer literate (at least, be capable of using word processing programs). They must also have demonstrated the ability to be thorough and accurate in their work and be able to meet target dates. Their integrity must be unquestionable.

How to Apply

Intending Examiners who wish to mark WAEC Scripts can submit their details online. An examiner will be disqualified if the details supplied are incorrect.

Successful Applicants would be called mostly via SMS, however, Nigerian applicants can visit the official page and check the invitation status and know if they are invited for the particular Marking Exercise.

You can print your invitation letter and update your examiner details. Examiners are expected to update their contact details

During coordination and marking exercises, staff at marking venues can upload Examiner details. TDD officers can approve examiners and manage existing examiners’ data. online.

OTHER MODES OF APPLICATION

Application forms can be downloaded at www.waecgh.org. At the homepage,

click on Other Services and then select Examiner’s Application Form from the options that drop. Download the form and print it.
Completed application forms, together with copies of relevant certificates/transcripts may be submitted at any of the Council’s offices at HQ and the regional capitals.

For Registration process to be complete, applicant needs to make sure all the follwoing process have been completed

  1. Sign Up: fill the sign up form with the required information and a password will generated for applicant to sign in. All fields are required for this process
  2. Sign In: Applicant needs to sign in with the password recieved via text message or Email.
  3. Complete Registration: Complete the registration process by filling the form as displayed. The registration form has been organised in
    • Personal Profile is a required area
    • Educational Qualification is a required area
    • Teaching/Working Experience is a required area
    • Examining Experience is not a required area but a plus for applicant
    • Bio Data: This requires a passport picture of the applicant and a scanned copy of an introductory letter from your referee
    • Use the Next and previous buttons to navigate through the reqistration process as required
    • Agree to the terms and conditions and preview application to confirm all information provided is correct before submitting the application
  4. Apply to Mark: This is where the applicant request to mark a specific subject by selecting the exam type, the subject and the preference. It is at this piont that an applicant have applied to mark.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT

Successful applicants will be appointed temporarily. They will be invited for the marking exercises and related services for periods not exceeding three weeks at a time.

Within the specified periods the work assigned to each examiner must be completed and duly handed over to the Council.

Remuneration shall be stated in appointment letters which will be issued to them for each marking session.
