How to Check UG Admission Status, Steps to Buy e-voucher and Download Letter

The University of Ghana Legon, Has released the Admission List for this Academic Year.

How to Check UG Admission Status

Checking your UG Admission is simple, follow the guide below.

Open the Browser

Type www.ug.edu.gh or search  for the UG admission status checker

Enter your Serial Number or Surname to check for your admission status

Your Name and Programme will be displayed plus a download Button.

Before you can download, Click on Download, You’ll be redirected to log in with your Serial Number and Pin

Do so to Print Your Admission Letter.

How to Print UG Admission Letter


When you search with your Surname, all available surnames that correspond to your name will emerge

showing, The serial number, compared to yours, Programme admitted to, Campus (DISTANCE EDUCATION), Type eg Ghanaian Admitted on Regular Fees Action, Click to download the letter.

The are some bad nuts in the System, they may Type any name to check and Print an Admission letter for whatever purpose. To prevent that, no one is allowed to download the admission letter without the Serial number and PIN.

Confirm that you are given provisional admission by typing your surname

You need to also have your Serial Number and PIN

If you are admitted, click on Download Admission, it takes you to a page where you need to provide your serial and PIN to have a hard copy of it.

The University of Ghana Computing Systems (UGCS) has noticed the circulation of false communiques. NOTE THAT, UGCS has not tasked any individual or group of persons to make the reading money with a promise to help with academic /residential registrations.

The public is advised of the following:

Not to pay money to any individual or group of persons who promise to give accommodation or academic admission.

To report such fraudulent communication to secure@ug.edu.gh (with screenshots) to avoid being a victim of fraudulent activities.

Use the appropriate platforms to make all necessary payments and registrations.

Visit the appropriate office for assistance or inquiry.

Steps to purchasing UG Application voucher via USSD

(Please note that this information applies only to Ghanaian (diploma/HND to degree, undergraduate & postgraduate) applicants. However, it does not apply to Ghanaians (undergraduate) applying from abroad)


Follow these 4 easy steps to purchase an application e-voucher:

Dial *887*18# on all networks

Enter UG

Authorise Payment

The user receives an e-voucher via SMS after successful payment.

In a situation where the user does not receive an SMS after a period of completing the transaction, they can retrieve the e-voucher using the following steps:

To Retrieve E-Voucher:

Dial *887*18#
Select “Yes”
Click “Retrieve E-Voucher”
The details of the E-Voucher are displayed (ie University of Ghana, Serial Number, and PIN)
