We’re looking for a Lecturer to join our small and growing team to ensure the success of our first cohorts of student-teachers.

What does the role entail?

As a Lecturer, you will be working under Instill’s Academic Dean in Johannesburg to design and deliver content on the Foundation Phase teacher training programme. The Lecturer’s role is anchored in sound theoretical and practical knowledge of preparing teacher trainees to lead their own classrooms. Specifically, you will:

Design content for asynchronous online learning

Design and revise contextually relevant and engaging teaching and learning materials based on research-based best practices to improve student outcomes
Facilitate, orchestrate and supervise classes, student practice, and small-group work
Grade assessments, synthesise performance data, track cohort progress, and identify gaps in student understanding

Observe and coach teacher candidates during their practical experience and provide them with specific, actionable feedback around best teaching practice
Provide teacher candidates with additional classroom support and observations as needed
Serve as an advisor to and advocate for teacher trainees
Create and maintain a positive work environment and sense of community for all teacher candidates
Perform other related duties as required and assigned
Support in the development and maintenance of a strong, inviting and engaging working culture at Instill Education

Selection Criteria:

A Masters in Education qualification (PhD will be an added advantage) with a phase related specialisation (e.g. Masters in Mathematics Education in Intermediate Phase).
Experience in a Junior Faculty/ Lecturer role
You have the ability to co-facilitate teacher-trainee sessions and coach teacher trainees
You are highly adaptable, with strong critical thinking, planning and execution skills
You are an outstanding written and oral communicator
Commitment to excellence in the provision of service to students
