2024 National Rental Assistance Scheme ; Documents required and How to Apply

National Rental Assistance Scheme; Documents Required and How to Apply

Renting in Ghana is one of the most difficult things affecting the youth currently, Many countries have affordable homes where people can rent and pay every month.

In Ghana, even though the Law states that the maximum months of rent advance you can be asked is 6 months, Landlords always request 2 Years, or 3 years advance. Making it difficult to either rent or progress.

Politicians have brought a few measures to tackle the situation with the NDC Suggesting a Housing scheme where Tenants would own the Houses they rest in over time and the NPP suggesting a scheme where they’ll support Tenants and Pay for them, for the Tenants to pay to the government on monthly Basis. Well, One good news is here.

Government to pay rent on behalf of tenants

Ghana has developed a platform where the State, through the National Rental Assistance Scheme (NRAS), pays rent advance directly to landlords on behalf of tenants.

National Rental Assistance Scheme pays rent advances for all qualified applicants who are in the process of renewing or renting a room, an apartment, or a complete house. Their services allow renters to make monthly affordable rent payments.

This payment can be made even through mobile money

Documents required and how to Apply

To qualify, an applicant must show proof of employment (3 months payslips),

Proof of income (3 months official bank statements or mobile money statements) or audited financial statements (for business owners).

An applicant must also complete an online or paper application form,

Submit 2 forms of national identification and pay an application processing fee of 100 cedis.

If an application is approved, the National Rental Assistance Scheme will arrange with your chosen landlord to pay the rent advance directly and sign all required tenancy documentation.

Useless scheme
.. common NHIS and other social interventions govt cannot pay.. the bureaucracy around got related processes are just too useless and difficult.

By the time one ends all this process then their landlord would have sacked them from the house.

The best thing is to strengthen and enforce the law to allow house owners take 6 months advance and house should be classified according o locations and space and peg them to a unified amount. So prices can be leveled.

And civil servants should be able to own houses that are built by govt overtime with d scheme NadC wants to bring.

Let’s start with saglemi and build.more affordable.houses .

Rental scheme whatever is a useless scheme. Dat will become politicised and those who are suppose to be d direct beneficiaries will be lacking due to connection men and favouritism..
