New COSISOs National Leaders Elected 2024

UPDATES FROM THE 2ND DELEGATES CONGRESS OF COSISOs, GHANA, HELD AT GNAT HALL, ACCRA ON 5TH APRIL, 2023*

Delegates from each of the 16 regions had reported on the 4th of April in readiness for Congress.

SPEECH FROM THE OUTGOING CHAIRMAN, MR FRANCIS KPONVI

1. He touched on the achievements of COSISO under his tenure. E.g. Registration of the association, motorbikes for SISOs, and the hijacked monitoring allowance among others.
He also urged the chairmen, *ranging from district levels to the national level to be bold and proactive in championing the course of members.*

Talk from the 3 Teacher Unions

The leadership of the 3 Teacher Unions expressed their joy about the formation of COSISO, Ghana.
They hinted that our concern regarding the *responsibility and risk allowances* among others were captured in ” *the new condition of service* which is about to be presented to the *Fair Wages and Salary Commission for consideration.*

Speech from the Divisional Director for Schools and Instruction, Mr. Prince Agyemang-Duah

1. He was the chairman of the occasion.
2. He hinted that the only way to have our challenges addressed is to come together and have a united front.
3. According to him, the education sector runs on the shoulders of SISOs hence the need to be resourced effectively.
He assured all SISOs of his unflinching support for the association.
4. Again, he informed the delegates that *a standard operational manual, also known as a (standard operational manual),* has been designed for SISOs to enhance efficiency in the educational sector.
5. However, he was not happy about the fact that the majority of SISOs don’t often visit 2nd cycle institutions that fall under their jurisdictions.
According to him, secondary schools are part of the pre-tertiary institutions as such SISOs are expected to visit and give the needed support.
6. He also urged SISOs not to feel intimidated in the course of discharging their duties.

Speech from the DG/CEO OF GES, DR ERIC NKANSAH

1. He expressed his gratitude to leadership for the opportunity to meet all representatives of SISOs for the first time.
2. He mentioned, the roles of SISOs cannot be over-emphasized. and acknowledged the fact that without SISOs the education sector cannot function effectively.
3. He acknowledged receipt of the communique presented to him by the national executives. He promised to work with those requests within his domain and forward the rest to the appropriate quarters. Follow-ups will be done effectively.
5. He urged leaders to collaborate with the teacher unions to incorporate some of their needs for negotiation.
6. Responding to a question on NST reimbursement, he said *NaCCA has released the PVs to Finance Ministry for payments*. He assured the participants that *payments will be effected soon.*
