Albert is New York University’s student information system. This page is intended to provide resources for all Albert users.

Get Ready: Registration Checklist

Follow these tips for making the registration process go as smoothly as possible:

Search for available classes on Albert.

Meet with your academic advisor to discuss your class schedule. Please note that without prior approval from your academic advisor or department, your credit load for January term will be limited to four units.

Make sure you don’t have any registration holds that will block you from registering. Go to Albert “Holds.”

Make sure your contact information is up-to-date in Albert by going to Personal Info. To register for classes, you are required to have a current NYU Emergency Alert cell phone number and the number of a person to contact in the event of an emergency.

Add your planned classes in Albert. Before your registration opens, you can add the class you want to take to your Albert Shopping Cart. This is known as “validating” in Albert.

When you’re ready to register, go to Albert and either enroll in the classes you’ve already added to your shopping cart or search for and enroll in the class you want to take.

When to Register

Visit the academic calendar to find out when general registration will open for the upcoming semester.

Check when your exact day and time to register is by going to the Enrollment Dates section of Albert.

Registering after De-Enrollment

If you have been de-enrolled from your classes as a result of non-payment, follow the steps below to re-register. These steps apply to spring, summer, fall and January terms.

Contact the Bursar’s Office immediately to discuss your bill.

Verify your enrollment eligibility on Albert.

Go to the Student Center in Albert to check your eligibility to enroll for this term’s classes. Review the Holds area of your Student Center or select the Check Registration Status functionality to determine if you have been cleared by the Bursar’s Office to once again enroll for classes.

Once you are eligible, use the Enroll feature in Albert to register for your classes.
You may find that the selection of available classes is limited. Contact your academic advisor or the advising office of your college for assistance in planning an alternative schedule.

Steps for Registering

1. Click the Course Search link in the Shopping Cart section.

2. Add a class to your shopping cart by selecting one from the Course Search or by entering a class number.

3. Once you select a class, the waitlist option and the field for permission number display. Then, click the Next button.

4. The class is now in your shopping cart. You can leave it here until it is time to enroll, or if your enrollment appointment is open click the Proceed to Step 2 of 3 button.

5. Confirm the classes to enroll in and click the Finish Enrolling button.

NetID/Password

What is a NetID?

All NYU faculty, staff, and matriculated students enrolled in degree or diploma programs, are provided with an NYU NetID (Network IDentification).

Your NetID is a combination of your initials and a few numbers, (e.g., aqe123). Once activated, your NetID provides access to authorized NYU online services and applications.

Your NetID is also used to create your default NYU Email address (e.g., aqe123@nyu.edu).

How can I activate my NetID?

Visit the NYU Start Page: start.nyu.edu.

Enter your NYU NetID

Agree to the terms, update your email address and birth date, and set a password. If you plan to access your email via a mobile device or desktop email program, you will also need to set a Google Apps password.

If you have previously registered a non-NYU email address in one of NYU’s systems

Request a password reset link:

1. Go to the NYU Start Page (start.nyu.edu).

2. Click on Reset Password.

3. Enter your NetID

4. To reset your password, select Security Questions, Recovery Emaill, or Mobile App. (You may not see all of these options depending on what you have previously setup.)

5. Follow the steps for the option you selected. If you are unable to you must contact NYU IT, to have them manually reset your password. You will need to provide them with information to confirm your identity.

How can I change my password?

You can change your NetID password (also known as your NYUHome password) at any time, provided that you know your current password and it has not yet expired.

1. Go to the NYU Start Page (start.nyu.edu)

2. Login with your NetID and password.

3. Click on Change NetID Password.
