Official WASSCE 2024/2025 start date Released

DATES FOR THE BECE AND WASSCE, 2024 FOR SCHOOL CANDIDATES

Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) wishes to inform all Heads of Basic and
Senior High Schools that the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and West African
Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), 2024 for School Candidates (SC) will be written
as follows:

1. July 8 – 12, 2024 for BECE (SC)
2. July 1- August 31, 2024 for WASSCE (SC)

The West African Examinations Council will communicate the period for the registration of
candidates for the examinations to the heads of schools in due course.

By this letter, Regional Directors of Education are requested to communicate this information to
Metro/Municipal/ District Directors of Education to inform all Heads of Basic and Senior High
Schools to take note and prepare the candidates for the examination accordingly.

For Nigeria, after the COVID, the Academic calendar has been shifted to write WASSCE in May/June hence this Year the examination will still be May/June 2024.

Ghana on the other hand has written the WASSCE alone, this year Ghana will Start Early thus on 1st July 2024.

Officially the WASSCE for school started from Monday, 31st July to Tuesday 26th September 2023.
