Officials of Kumbungu Directorate of Education refute claim of non-existent primary school by OSP, CAGD
Officials of the Kumbungu District Directorate of Education is challenging findings by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and the Controller & Accountant General’s Department (CAGD) into the Government of Ghana Payroll Administration that a primary school in the district does not exist, with staff being validated monthly and paid salaries.
The Directorate told 3news.com that there is no teacher or school that is non-existent and dared the OSP to release the name of the affected school or staff.
“We are not aware of any such school because the Kumbungu district has 89 kindagarten, 89 Primary schools and 33 Junior High Schools and they are all running” one of the officers said off camera.
“None of our staff is affected by their investigation as it stands now because after their visit, we rectified all mistakes emanating from internal transfers and validation. So, they should tell us which community or school is affected,“ he added.
The OSP, CADG report had captured that “In one instance, it was discovered that a Primary School in the Kumbungu District of Ghana Education Service did not exist at all.
“Yet, this non-existent contrived entity was represented as staffed and the purported staff were being validated monthly and being paid salaries.
The report on investigation into GES operations in the Kumbungu District indicated that a staggering amount of GHC2,854,144.80 was identified as unearned monthly salaries, attributed to individuals who were deceased, retired, no longer in their positions, flagged as missing, or whose whereabouts were unknown, commonly referred to as “Ghost Names.”
