GES Official Response – 2024 BECE to be 5 Subjects Fake

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has categorically refuted the circulating rumors on social media claiming a reduction in the number of subjects for the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) from 9 to 5.

Addressing the issue through official channels, the GES clarified that there have been no adjustments to the BECE subjects. According to the misinformation, students are required to sit for five subjects. The specified subjects are as follows:

  1. Integrated Science
  2. English Language
  3. Mathematics
  4. Ghanaian Language
  5. General Paper (comprising Social Studies, RME, and Career Technology)

On January 6, 2024, the Ghana Education Service issued an official statement to debunk the fake news. The GES emphasized that any information or videos suggesting a reduction to five subjects for BECE candidates this year should be disregarded.

The Current BECE Subjects are;

  1. Integrated Science
  2. English Language
  3. Mathematics
  4. Social Studies
  5. Ghanaian Language
  6. RME (Religious and Moral Education)
  7. ICT (Information and Communication Technology)
  8. BDT (Basic Design and Technology)

However, the Current Batch of Students Do Subjects Like;

Mathematics
Physical Education
‘S c i e n c e
Art
Computing
History
Religion
Social Studies
Music

The Ghana Education Service has said any official changes would be communicated through proper channels. The 2024 BECE, previously speculated to be reduced to five subjects, remains unchanged, and candidates are expected to prepare for all nine subjects.
