With the current blocking of SIMs, we ask? what happens to ones’ Mobile Money Account, should the SIM be declared inactive?
My Uncle who left for UK asked me to contact MTN, what will happen to His Money on the MTN Mobile account/ wallet as He will not be able to register.
A Call to MTN 100 revealed that, after His number is blocked, He will not be able to do anything on the number or do any transaction on the number. He Can’t also have access to his money, since the money will not be available.
The only solution for him is to download the Self Registration App to register online if he should have the Ghana card with Him. Gov’t releases SIM Card registration Self-Service App; Download
He can transfer the Money from his mobile money wallet to his Bank account or transfer it to other registered wallet, if he won’t be able to register.
There are many people with such case. So we asked, is that what is going to happen to all those who can’t register because they are not available? Well, since it’s not the MTN boss we were communicating with, she assured us that, the call is being recorded hence what ever happens the public will be made aware.
But for Now,
If you have not registered your SIM after the deadline, your SIM will be Blocked and you will lose your number including your Mobile money.
Kindly do well to register.
If you are in abroad and you can’t, kindly send the Code for withdrawal by your family.
