No CPD For Some Participants and some are Considered for the Instill NTC CPD Points

Instill’s mission is to transform teaching, learning and leadership in every classroom on the African continent. We believe that the greatest levers for change in the education system are teachers and school leaders. We have recently been accredited as a higher education institution in South Africa, and seek to build a team that will change the face of teacher education across the continent. We’re looking for a Product Associate to join our small and growing team to ensure the success of our first cohorts of student-teachers.

What does role entail?

As Product Associate, you will be working closely with the Product Manager and Product Owner on the successful build, implementation and roll out of Instills’ Professional Development Platform and internal IT solutions. This includes:

  • Work with business and technical teams to understand business needs and translate them into clear, detailed functional requirements.
  • Ensure business requirements are well understood by the delivery team and are translated successfully into working software
  • Maintain the product backlog, ensuring User Stories, Tasks, Bugs and Spikes are categorised and prioritised correctly, with the necessary amounts of detail.
  • Ensuring that the backlog is fully scoped 2-3 sprints ahead in order for the development team to have a clear view of upcoming work.
  • Resolving blockers and stucks that are raised by the development team, identify risks early and ensure that they are being managed with clear owners and mitigation plans..
  • Ensure all new features are well tested and existing functionality does not break through the introduction of fixes or new features.
  • Define and coordinate the execution of testing procedures to serve the overall quality assurance process.
  • Design and lead internal QA and UAT processes with end-users including coordination and user acceptance sign-off.
  • Maintain product documentation where necessary ensuring that requirements are clearly understood and shared between all product stakeholders, both technical and in the business.
  • Compile user training documentation and assist in training initiatives for product roll out and support.
  • Partner with the Product and Programmes team to plan and prepare for Go-Live and post-go live support.
  • Triage new feature requests as they come from the business, being the first line support for all bugs and issues identified.
  • Work with development partners and 3rd party software providers to manage queries and backlog items which integrate with the Platform.
  • Develop and implement maintenance procedures, monitor systems health, gather system statistics, and troubleshoot reported errors and alarms
  • Research 3rd party integration tools, manages implementation and ensures working smoothly end to end

Selection Criteria:

  • You have experience working in a challenging business environment. You’ve been apart of a high performing team and have worked on complex projects
  • You have an undergraduate degree, although we are more interested in your experience, drive and passion than your qualification
  • You have excellent analytical skills and are a creative problem solver, paying close attention to detail
  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills and are able to express complex ideas simply
  • You take initiative and are proactive in your engagements, raising risks early
  • You are comfortable working in a high speed environment and are flexible and can adapt quickly to change
  • You are an exceptional critical thinker with strong interpersonal communication skills
  • You have the ability to work in an ever-changing environment as part of a multicultural team
  • You have a demonstrated passion for educational development, closing educational equity gaps, and are strongly aligned with our vision, mission and values
  • Familiarity with the following technical tools will be useful (Google Workspace, Slack, Jira and Asana, ZenDesk) and have  an ability and desire to learn and master new software tools easily
