Wizkid was born Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun on 16 July 1990, in Surulere, Lagos. He grew up in an interfaith household with twelve female siblings.

Wizkid attended primary and secondary schools but could not graduate from the university. His father married three wives, and he grew up with twelve siblings, so life was tough for him. Growing up, WIZKID listened to a lot of music, had a great passion for music and decided he wanted to be a musician.

At only 11 years old, he began his music journey in church under the moniker, Lil Prinz.
