In a significant development for the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Professor Stephen Jobson Mitchual officially took office as the institution’s Vice-Chancellor on October 2, 2023. His appointment signals a new era for UEW, with a commitment to excellence, innovation, and inclusivity.

Professor Mitchual, an esteemed scholar with a Ph.D. in Wood Science and Technology from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Prior to this appointment, he served as the Acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED), Kumasi, where he oversaw the School of Graduate Studies for two academic years.

Notably, his work on binder-free briquettes from agro-forest residue has contributed to sustainable biomass energy practices.

Beyond academia, Prof. Mitchual is a passionate advocate for the utilization of agro-forest residue for biomass energy, wood machining, and sawmill safety. His efforts have influenced policymakers, industry leaders, and environmentalists alike.
