Why is water not given to accident victims, even when they feel thirsty at that point?

You may meet accident victims and as a human, you would wish to help by doing something. According to a medical report Chanced by our Health Team, Most Accidental Deaths Occur not necessarily because of the collision but the way accident victims are handled.

Let’s talk about the water/Food

Why is it dangerous to give accident Victims water or Food even when they request it?

Do you know that giving an accident victim water because he requested it can be fatal?

A wounded man is bleeding profusely on the road and tells you that I am thirsty
Please Don’t give him water! For several reasons,

The Person May choke

Heart May stop

It is normal for the patient to be thirsty when bleeding. Because he has lost a lot of fluids, but if you give him water his heart may stop.

In case of bleeding, the heart automatically tries to compensate for the lack of blood, so the heart rate will increase faster than the normal rate and there will be strong stress on the heart. Therefore, with water drinking, the stress will increase twice as much on the heart and it will completely stop pumping blood

This must be avoided because if the injured person is unconscious, he presents a great risk of bronchial inhalation with an immediate risk of “drowning”, and a secondary
Risk of pulmonary infection.

Don’t give water because you don’t know the severity of the injury.
It may look minor but severe in the actual sense, there may be internal injuries, and giving water will just flash the internal bleeding blood to the heart which can kill the person.

In severe bleeding, giving the person water may alter the circulation of the remaining small blood that’s sustaining him by diluting it and eventually leading to death

To someone with bleeding wounds, giving water can cause more pressure to the wound leading to more loss of blood.

In the case of head injury or spinal cord injury, giving water can cause instant death.

Surgery

In addition, this person may undergo emergency surgery, he should be as fast as possible. Giving water may pose a big challenge to the surgery thereby endangering the victim’s life.

Until there are enough diagnostics to confirm that they are not going to need any kind of emergency intervention, they can’t eat or drink, Otherwise they would have to pump the patient’s stomach, which is of course unpleasant and takes time away from a potential emergency where every second counts.

If we let them eat/drink, they’d likely choke to death or get that fluid in their lungs when under anesthesia because of the paralytic drugs that are often used.

If you must help, The best thing to do is to rush the victim to a nearby hospital. If there are bigger injuries or something is lying on the person’s leg or arms, keep it there and call doctors or the Ambulance.
