2% Deduction on Basic Salary Effective November 2023 – GNAT

The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has implemented a 2% deduction on the basic salary of all non-contributor GNAT members for the GNAT Provident Fund Scheme (Tier-3).

This decision was made during the National Council Meeting held at the GNAT Village in September 2023. The Council directed GNAT leadership to register all members onto the Provident Fund Scheme in response to widespread requests from GNAT members across the country.

The deduction, effective from November 2023, is a result of the Council’s decision, and members who wish to increase their contribution can do so up to the 16.5% threshold allowed by law using a designated short code.

The existing tax exemption for scheme contributors will apply to the 2% deduction.
