Beware of School Placement Scams: Protect Yourself from Fraudsters

The eagerly awaited 2023 School Placement results by the Ghana Education Service (GES) are now available on the CSSPS Portal. However, the GES is issuing a crucial warning to the public about the rise of fraudsters taking advantage of the situation.

Within a short time of the placement release, reports have surfaced of unscrupulous individuals scamming unsuspecting victims out of undisclosed sums of money. These fraudsters are actively promoting their scams on platforms such as Facebook and WhatsApp.

In some instances, scammers have infiltrated WhatsApp groups, posing as administrators to legitimate groups or sharing their advertisements in groups they cannot hijack. One unfortunate victim on our platform fell prey to a scam, thinking they were dealing with the group’s admin, only to discover their mistake after their money was already lost.

Important Note: Be cautious of messages like the one below, claiming to provide access to certain schools through a WhatsApp link:

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

  • Do not share personal information or pay money to unknown individuals promising school placements.
  • Verify the authenticity of messages and individuals claiming to offer assistance.
  • Report any suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities.

The GES emphasizes the importance of being vigilant during this period and urges the public to use official channels for school placement information. Remember, protecting yourself is the first step in securing a successful and legitimate school placement. Stay informed and stay safe!
