Director-General of GES, tours affected flood areas in the Volta Region.

The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, Dr. Eric Nkansah, conducted a three-day working visit in the Volta Region, starting on November 9, 2023.

Accompanied by a cross-section of Directors from the headquarters, Directors in charge of Administration, Guidance and Counselling, Planning, Procurement, Special Education, Girl Child Education, Early Childhood Education, and the Director for Partnerships and Affiliations, they toured flood-affected areas in the North and South Tongu districts to assess the implementation of the Education in Emergency Plan.

The goal is to expedite the resumption of teaching and learning activities in schools affected by floods.

During the visit, the team, with the support of UNICEF and other partners, provided 3,000 school uniforms, 800 packs of teaching materials, 10 school-in-a-box kits, 4 tents, 36 recreation kits, and 32 Early Childhood Development kits.

The Ghana Education Service expressed gratitude to all development partners and stakeholders for their continuous collaboration during this challenging period.
