The GES-SIC Life Group policy was officially launched in July 2019. For Teachers nationwide but was rejected by some teachers who said they were not informed and there seems to be no clarity or transparency in the policy. GES SIC LIFE INSURANCE POLICY; 2 EASY WAYS TO CANCEL FOR A FULL REFUND OR APPLY,
This led to a series of arguments between the Minister of Education then Hon. Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh and teachers mostly on radio and on social media. It led to the cancellation of the policy for the teachers.
Surprisingly, Newly recruited staff of the GES have seen the deductions in their salaries without prior orientation or any sort of information about the deduction. Nobody seems to say anything about it because they seem not to be affected.
As seekersnewsgh.com went to the office to speak to some of the Officers in charge of the policy at the SIC head office. The following were the outcome.

Cancers,

WHY WAS ORIENTATION NOT DONE FOR TEACHERS
According to the SIC, management of the GES failed to prompt them on recruits. Such should have been the case when GES prompts recruits for them to visit the various schools for a face-to-face talk about the policy.
For now, the SIC is putting things in place to visit various employees for the orientation.
ssekersnewsgh.com also put it to them that Teachers complain they do not receive their benefits when issues arise or they are in need.
According to the SIC, most Teachers who are on the policy have successfully received their benefits in full and on time.
The only issue is some teachers apply for cancellation of the policy after which the unfortunate incident happens to them, then they reapply for a benefit/claim while they have already processed their cancellation request. In such cases, the benefit cannot be paid to them.
WHAT DO YOU HAVE FOR PEOPLE WHO WISH TO EXIT THE POLICY
SIC is there for you and you can visit any of our offices for more information. As Said earlier, most teachers do not know about the policy, We have more instances where teachers call for cancellation and after an explanation of the policy to them they leave it and benefit in the end.
The deductions count but could do a lot for you in times of need or unforeseen circumstances.
HOW DO YOU KNOW THE NEXT OF KIN OF THE EMPLOYEES?
We also asked about the next of kin, since the employees were not engaged, how did they know the next of kin.?
For this information, it is taken from the data submitted to GES
Hence the next of kin on your GES data is the same as the SIC. But one can walk into the office anytime for more clarification or call the office on 030 275 0151

I hope they knw very well that this is a criminal act and they can be sued for that matter
The fact that SIC is for the state does not mean they should deduduct money without the owners knowledge, what kind of country is this?
Tell them. Some of us, the deduction stopped long ago when it was first initiated in 2019. But no refund has been done till date
Majority of us have been to their offices to cancel the policy and it is about 2years now, they haven’t and they keep deducting this so called unaware GES SIC Policy. Can GES tell us which policy to sign into?
