During the 2023 Base Pay negotiations, Many Teachers were not happy with even the Salary increment being demanded by their Unions, rather they were asking for allowances.
In the collective agreement, Teachers can go for Salary Advance like it is done in other companies, after Re-sharing the idea with the recruits, we realized that it is no more available, and we’re yet to ask why? GES Salary Advance; How to Apply

I am an Assistant director 11 at GES but I don’t benefit from all these allowances
The following allowance should be instituted for the teaching staff as a matter of urgency:
1. Rent allowance
2.clothing allowance
3. Transport allowance
4. Medical allowance
We want fuel and transportation allowance
Risk management allowance
Dressing allowance
Research allowance
Rent allowance
Marking allowance
It is not a crime to be a teacher in Ghana, so teachers need better conditions of service. I agreed that trs should be paid those entitled allowances and Dr. Nkansah if he can deliver to the interest of trs I have no problem with that.
Please some teachers are doing extra duties but don’t get any allowances. Some even have responsibility allowance letters to that effect (HOD, House master, Form master etc) but has not been captured for years. We have submitted our documents severally to the appropriate authorities but to no avail.
GES in 2022 December, requested for all such that again, we’re hopeful those outstanding issues will be resolved https://seekersnewsgh.com/request-for-outstanding-salary-allowance-issues-within-ges-good-news/
All of the above mentioned allowances
Headteacher from 🤐🤐🤐🤐
I completed University but only got three months aeeers what must u do.The same thing applies to training college
Retention allowance should be increased from 15 to 50% or as health sector personnels are 55%
Vehicle maintenance should be paid monthly by Controller and accountant General
Kilometric allowance should be paid
We hope it comes to reality.
All allowances due us should be paid period
I suggest that there must be both online and manual processing of these allowances.
There must be a clearly stated requirement and time limit for each allowance.
If an applicant is denied, it must be communicated directly to her or him with reason.
The monthly allowances must be paid without application.
There must be allowance for improvisation of teaching and learning resources since GES is not up-to-task on it.
The only allowance I have enjoyed is the CPD allowance which is not enough due to charges per CPD points by NTC’s CPD providers.
I humbly appeal to you to put systems in place to bust officials who may negotiate for percentage of the allowance after processing it.
Why are office staff denied additional responsibility allowance?
Indeed it’s welcoming news, though these allowances exists few knew how to access it.
However, it is sad to say that whiles others are enjoying, institutions like the National Population Council do not enjoy any of such allowance. A situation that is making the national agency unattractive and unproductive. As if that is not enough no staff of NPC has been promoted for the past 10 years. Whiles the minister in charge looks on unconcern. Mr president wake up wai
Good move
When is this taking place
Only CPD is enjoyed
But the rest is nothing to be talked about
The matters should be look at seriously because it can’t be documented and is not working which means you’re making a fool of the teacher
New director general must take a second look at this. And do something for us. Thank you
It’s a serious matter here. That’s why people don’t respect teaching as a job so i think the new Director General and all the union leaders should collaborate and fight for them on behalf of teachers so that they can have the zeal to do the work
