The Ghana Statistical Service is the government agency charged with the responsibility of providing quality, relevant, accurate and timely statistical information for the purpose of national development. It has offices in all the sixteen regions of the country.

The Service is collaborating with GCB Bank PLC (G-Money) and Georgia State University, USA to undertake a research project in the Eastern Region and thus invites applications from suitably qualified applicants, who are goal-oriented and results-driven to apply for the position of Research Assistant in the Eastern Region.

Duration of Assignment: Six (6) months
Renewable for another six months based on satisfactory performance
Time Schedule: Full time
Remuneration: Competitive Package
Duty Post: Eastern Region
Reporting to: The Principal Investigator (Prof. Francis Annan)

A. JOB SUMMARY

The aforementioned institutions are undertaking a joint research project about Markets for Retail Digital Finance and Small Businesses across Low-Income Communities in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

B. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The specific duties and responsibilities are as follows:
i. Liaise between Principal Investigator and research team in the design of training modules
ii. Organize training for field officers in data collection
iii. Monitor project implementation to ensure quality control and adherence to the research specifications
iv. Facilitate the successful implementation of the research projects
v. Sort, clean, analyze and report on findings from the research projects
vi. Draft reports, policy briefs and other reports for publication
vii. Perform any statistical assignment that may be assigned

C. QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

i. A minimum of a first degree from an accredited tertiary institution in any of the following: Economics, Statistics, Finance, Data Science, Public Policy, Marketing, and related fields.
ii. Must have completed one-year national service.
iii. Must have at least three years’ work experience

D. COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS

i. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Suit
ii. Experienced in the Use of Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) in Data Collection
iii. Experienced in Survey work, Research work, and Data analysis
iv. Experienced in Mobile Money Retailing (or vendorship) or Agency Banking,
v. Familiarity with SMEs businesses
vi. Attention to Detail
