Interdicted Headmistress of GHANASS Wrote to E/R Director of Education before her interdiction

A letter that surfaced online Yesterday 7th December 2023 indicates the Headmistress of Ghana Senior High School Koforidua has been asked to step down by the Eastern Regional Director of Education following allegations of collections of unauthorized monies.

The Letter which was signed by the director was dated 7th December 2023, early this morning 8th December 2023 another letter has resurfaced which is dated 6th December 2023 from the Headmistress of the school writing to the Director to update her of the Admission Process in the school citing the same reasons for her interdiction.

Could it be she was interdicted after reporting herself of what was happening? or her letter failed to reach the Director before her interdiction?

Many Reactions that came in indicate school ceremonial dress and tracksuits are sold in almost every school and shouldn’t be the reason for interdiction

The Ghana Education Service gave a stern warning earlier after the release of the harmonized prospectus warning heads who will charge unauthorized levies.

New GES National Prospectus for All SHS/TVET 2023/2024 November December

Below is the letter from the Head to the Director dated 6th December 2023.

REPORT ON THE ADMISSION PROCESS

I humbly write to report on the on-going admission process in Ghana Senior High School, Efiduase-
Koforidua.

As directed by the National Prospectus, schools are to make provisions for their unique specification.

Ghanass do not wear the white-white and check uniforms. Provisions therefore were made by the
school with its unique colors of yellow shirt and leaf green trousers or skit in place of the white-white
and the check uniforms.

A seamstress was asked to make samples available with the school style so that parents who were
interested could acquire it while those who wanted to sew themselves were given the style that
effect.

Out of the excitement of being enrolled, some of the new students were introduced to samples of the
ceremonial dress which was selling at Two Hundred Ghana Cedis (GH¢ 200 00) for one set and the
track suit which was also going for Two Fifty Ghana Cedis (GH¢ 250.00) per one set.

However, parents were given the option of buying them or at a later period.

To protect the students from the cold weather and mosquito bites during evening preps, the
school made available its tracksuit for parents who were interested in getting some for their wards which
was not compulsory.

This decision was necessitated to maintain the status quo of the school and uniformity of what
to wear among students as well as to ease the burden of parents.
Thank you.
