HELB Student Portal

The HELB (Higher Education Loans Board) Portal is an online platform provided by the Kenyan government to facilitate the application and management of higher education loans for Kenyan students pursuing tertiary education in accredited institutions. The loans are intended to help students meet their educational expenses, including tuition fees, books, and other related costs.

Here are the steps to apply for a HELB loan through their online portal:

Create an Account:

Visit the official HELB website (https://www.helb.co.ke/).
Click on the “Student Portal” or “Loan Application” link.
Select “Create Account” if you’re a new user.
Fill in Your Details:

Provide your personal information, including your National ID or Passport number, email address, and phone number.
Create a secure password.
Activate Your Account:

An activation link will be sent to the email address you provided during registration. Click on the link to activate your account.

Log In to Your Account:

Return to the HELB portal and log in using your email and password.
Complete Your Profile:

After logging in, you’ll be prompted to complete your profile. Ensure all the information is accurate.
Loan Application:

Once your profile is complete, you can access the loan application form.
Fill out the loan application form with accurate and up-to-date information. This includes information about your institution, course, and financial details.
Ensure you provide all the required documents, such as a copy of your National ID or Passport, admission letter, and financial records.

Submit Your Application:

After filling out the application form and attaching the necessary documents, review your application for accuracy.
Submit your application.

Wait for Processing:

After submitting your application, it will go through a review and approval process by HELB. This can take some time, so be patient.

Check Application Status:

You can log in to your HELB portal account to check the status of your loan application.
Disbursement:

If your loan application is approved, the funds will be disbursed to your institution as specified in the terms and conditions.

It’s essential to keep in mind that HELB loans have specific eligibility criteria and deadlines for application, so make sure to check the HELB website for the most up-to-date information and requirements. Additionally, borrowers are required to repay their loans after completing their studies, so understanding the terms and conditions of the loan is crucial.
