Details have emerged regarding the horrific death of Maxwell Opoku, a 37-year-old Basic School teacher from Asante Akyem Agogo.
On the night of July 11, 2023, Opoku was brutally killed by an unknown assailant, allegedly over his involvement with another man’s girlfriend.
The teacher, who worked at Saint Augustin R/C Junior High School, was assaulted after meeting with a 22-year-old seamstress near the school.
Witnesses recount hearing Opoku’s cries for help as he was attacked, and he later succumbed to his injuries at Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
The suspect, who remains unidentified, used a machete to inflict multiple wounds on the victim’s head, hands, and body.
Prior to the incident, Opoku had reportedly received threats related to his relationship with the young seamstress.
The police have launched an investigation into the murder, and the girl involved has been taken into custody to assist with the inquiry.
