GES Extends 3-Day Holiday for SHS 2 Students to Facilitate Voter ID Registration

21st September 2023, Accra– In a proactive move to encourage civic participation among the youth, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has extended a 3-Day Holiday for SHS 2 Students to Facilitate Voter ID Registration

This holiday extension has been strategically designed to enable all SHS students aged 18 and above to register for their Voter ID cards. The GES recognizes the importance of active engagement in the democratic process and is committed to empowering students to exercise their right to vote.

During this brief period, students are encouraged to visit their designated voter registration centers to complete the necessary procedures and obtain their Voter ID cards. The GES emphasizes the significance of this opportunity and encourages eligible students to make use of this extension to register and become active participants in the electoral process.

The extended  3-day holiday to SHS 2 students commences on Friday, 22nd September and concluding on Sunday, 24th September 2023.

The Release,

As part of the constitutional regulation for all Ghanaian citizens to exercise their franchise, Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has granted form two (2) students who are eighteen (18) years and above the
permission to go home and register for their voter ID.

The form two (2) students are granted three (3) days effective Friday, 22nd to Sunday, 24thSeptember, 2023

By a copy of this letter Regional Directors of Education are kindly requested to communicate the above to all Heads of Second Cyce Institutions within your jurisdiction.
