Teacher Unions Reject Directors Conference Invitation Due to Disruptive Hooting and Shouting Incident

The Teacher Unions have declined an invitation to the 30th Annual National Conference and Workshop of Directors of Education (CODE) at Simon Diedong University of Business and Integrated Development Studies in Wa, scheduled for October 24, 2023.
This decision comes as a result of their dissatisfaction with the treatment they received during the 2022 CODE Conference at the University of Ghana, Legon. During the previous conference, delegates hooted and shouted down the Teacher Unions’ representatives as they were about to deliver solidarity messages.
The Teacher Unions view this as a breach of their partnership in education delivery and have chosen to protest by not supporting or attending this year’s conference.
The letter was signed by the General Secretary of GNAT, Thomas T. Musah, the President of NAGRAT, Eric Agbe-Carbonu, and the President of CCT-GH, King All Awudu.

matter refers:
We write to register our displeasure to the way and manner we were treated during the last
CoDE Conference in 2022 held at the University of Ghana, Legon. We were present at that
Conference base on your invitation to us, which we duly honoured.
Again, we found it worthy as partners in education delivery to support your Conference in
cash, kind and our presence.
To our shock and surprise, CODE delegates presents whom we regularly fight for. hooted and
shouted us away when our representatives were about to deliver our solidarity messages.
We see this act as very disappointing and repugnant to the good relationship that we have had
over the year’s und sought to build.
We are by this letter registering our strongest protest to the way and manner we were treated
during your 2022 Conference.
Consequently, we also want to announce to you our inability to support you at this year’s
Conference and will also not be able to honor this invitation.
