REQUEST FOR EXTENSION OF 15% RETENTION PREMIUM TO WORKERS OF TECHNICAL AND VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING (TVET) SERVICE

The  Public Services Workers Union of TUC (Ghana) is requesting the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission to extend the 15% retention premium currently being paid to staff of the Ghana Education Service (GES) to workers of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Service.

They have made previous requests and followed up with discussions, stressing the urgency of the matter due to its impact on the industrial atmosphere within the TVET Service.

They propose reconvening a meeting on April 11th, 2024, to address this issue.

RE: REQUEST FOR EXTENSION OF 15% RETENTION PREMIUM TO WORKERS OF TECHNICAL AND VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING (TVET) SERVICE

We extend to you our warm compliments and further request for the resumption of discussions on our
request for the extension of the 15% Retention Premium being paid to the Ghana Education Service
(GES) to the staff of the Ghana TVET Service.

This follows our request letter dated 22nd August 2022 and the initial meeting on 20th September,
2022 after which we have made several follow-ups to resume discussions on the matter, including
our letter of 27th June, 2023.

Considering the urgency of the matter and its ramifications on the relatively peaceful industrial
atmosphere within the Ghana TVET Service, we propose that the meeting for this purpose be
reconvened on Thursday 11th April, 2024 at 1:00 pm in your Boardroom.

We anticipate a favourable response from you and count on your usual cooperation in this regard.
Yours faithfully,
For: PSW OF TUC (GHANA)
