1. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB SUMMARY
The successful candidates will undergo training in the following
Firefighting operations.
Manning Brigade maintenance stores.
Control Room duties.
They are often called to rescue people from car accidents and to help injured people in inhospitable areas, such as in mountains, underwater, or collapsed buildings.
They also may be called upon to deal with other emergencies, such as rescuing animals.
Fire prevention involves inspecting and approving building plans and fire-prevention devices in buildings.
Lectures, pre-fire planning visits, and drills keep firefighters abreast of what is expected of them.
They give lectures and demonstrations to the public e.g. school groups.
As getting to the scene of a fire or other emergency as soon as possible is vitally important, firefighters must ensure that their vehicles and equipment are in good condition.
2. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
Must be a Citizen of Zimbabwe
Be physically and medically fit
Have a minimum height of 168 cm and weight not less than 59 kg for males have a minimum height of 162 cm and where in proportion to height for female candidates
5 “O” Levels including English Language and Science/Mathematics.
Must be aged between 18 and 25.
A clean class 2 driver’s license and certificate of First Aid are an added advantage.
3. EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Must be physically fit and be able to withstand heights and enclosed spaces.
