In GES, where you work is called the management unit. If you Teach at Achimota Senior High School then your management unit is Achimota Senior High School.

There are a few instances where your management unit may be associated with other institutions rather than the direct place you work. E.g. You can work at Our Lady of Mercy Senior High School but your management unit can be the Tema Metro Education Office.

In Changing the Management Unit through transfer or other reasons, you will have to write a letter to GES for that change.

What is an Assurance letter?

An assurance letter is a letter issued to those seeking release transfer into a district they wish to be transferred to. It is a letter that accepts your application and also states assurance of vacancy in their district and the respective documents to bring when your application is accepted.

Getting an assurance letter is the most important aspect of the release transfer process and also the number of years you’ve been at your present station( preferably 3 years and above)

When you are writing the application for your assurance letter, include your staff ID.

Also, write the reason why you want to move to that district. Also state your academic and professional qualifications and the level you are currently teaching; primary, junior high, or senior high. You must also mention your subject area.

You can add your CV to the application including a photocopy of your first appointment letter and professional certificates. And also supporting documents such as marriage certificates or health excuse documents.

Is it necessary to write the letter?

It’s very necessary to write the letter for the changes to be effected.

Immediately after the changes are effected you also have to communicate with your validators both from the former place and current unit to validate you.

If the Management unit is changed and your name does not reflect in the new institution for validation you must contact the former Validator to validate you. Failure to do this will result in your salary being blocked, And that’s the last thing you want.
