Why should I get a violation notication for:

  • A vehicle I do not own.
  •  vehicle I have sold.
  • A vehicle that was stolen or used for joyriding.
  •  vehicle I own but do not drive.

Regulations 2012, LI 2180 as amended provides that violation notifications will be sent to the registered phone number of the owner of the violating vehicle.

If you are no longer the owner of the vehicle, you should have officially notified DVLA at time of selling your vehicle.

You remain legally responsible for violations committed with a vehicle registered in your name,
until the updated ownership status and telephone number change is registered by DVLA.

You are legally required to timely pay the fine specified in the violation notification.

Increased charges due to late fine payment remain your responsibility.

In the case of theft, the owner of the vehicle should have immediately reported to the Police.

The Camera that registered my violation did not correctly measure the speed of my vehicle.

I was not speeding.

All traffic enforcement devices that operate in Ghana under the auspices or on behalf of the MTTD are approved
and regularly verified for accuracy related aspects by the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) based internationally accepted standards the vehicle should payment remain responsibility.

Where and how can I find a photo/video of the violation?

There was no speed limit sign and I still got a violation notification for speeding.

How should I know the speed limit without a sign?

Speed Limit Signs have been installed at the beginning and selected locations of the road corridor.

Besides, Regulations 163 and 164 of Road Traffic Regulations have prescribed Speed Limits for all types of roads and vehicles in the country.

All valid driver’s License holdersare expected to know and comply with or without
installed road signs.

There is no legal obligation to announce MTTD traffic enforcement operations nor
equipment.

The absence of a warning sign does not invalidate your traffic
violation.

I do not agree to the offence (notification) and want to go to object in court.
