Project Based Learning and Management – In context of the TBIS Interdisciplinary Literacy Project for Basic Schools.
Learning objectives
To gain full knowledge of the contents, milestones and timeline of the project.
To gain deeper insight into the creative (visual and performing) arts promoted in the project.
To gain insight into how the brain works and how to learn efficiently.
To gain insight into the teaching methods (learner-centered and interactive) acquired by teachers at the teacher training.
A secondary objective, albeit not a learning objective, is to help build an academic community with a common interest in promoting literacy and interdisciplinary learning. Management of different schools are offered a chance to get to know each other and share knowledge.
Description
The workshop consists of four hours of training for school management.
The training includes theoretical input and experiential learning. Its goal is to give school management a clear understanding of the TBIS project and how it can best be managed at their school.
Application takes place within the framework of THE BOOK IN SCHOOL project that runs at selected schools and the corresponding CPD training for teachers of these schools.
The training is for heads, principals and project coordinators, i.e. all those involved in supervising and managing the project at their schools (but not necessarily teaching the contents of the project). It could also be of interest to District Directors, Regional Managers and SISOs etc.
For your information:
THE BOOK IN SCHOOL Teacher Training: Three teacher training workshop days are offered to teachers, spread out over 5 months. The methods acquired at the teacher training are interactive and learner-centered. Teachers are requested to apply the methods in the classrooms throughout the course of the school project and conclude with a reflective report.
THE BOOK IN SCHOOL offers a comprehensive, holistic, interdisciplinary literacy project for basic schools (B 4- B 8). The main objectives of the project is to improve reading Skills, promote creativity and strengthen resilience of students between 9-15 years old. The unique feature of the project is its use of classical biblical text as reading material.

9.) THE BOOK IN SCHOOL offers project – based learning opportuniGes.
This means one central theme is approached from different angles and subjects (English language, RME, Social Studies, Art etc). This not only leads to a deeper understanding of the subject of the project – here the text of the gospel of Mark – but also to more in-depth knowledge in other subjects. The project based learning experience of THE BOOK IN SCHOOL also allows for classes of different levels in a school to work together. This requires more communica?on between classes (students and teacher) and herewith creates more unity in a school.
Project based learning is very exci?ng for students and excellent academic performance can be achieved as a result. It does however, require careful management of the team implemen?ng the project at a school.
