Easter Break and Vacation for SHS/SHTS Check Necessary changes

The Ghana Education Service has just released a letter dated 3 April 2023  signed by Dr. Kwabena Bempah Tandoh Deputy Director _General (Q &A ) for the Director-General, asking all Regional Directors of Education to communicate the Easter Breaks and Vacation of students to schools.

The SHS 3 Students are to go for Easter break for 11 Days and SHS 1 students are also to go with them thus schools using the transitional Calendar.

The SHS/SHTS 1 students would proceed after the Easter Breaks on Vacation and report later. thus as communicated on the Academic Calendar.

SHS 3

10th Jan. 2023 5th April, 2023         Break  6th April, 2023 April 16th, 2023

Reopens ; 17th April, 2023 1st June, 2023     Break   2nd June, 2023 8th June, 2023

By September 20223 all SHS 3 would have finished their WASSCE

Officially WASSCE Starts 31st July 2023 to Tuesday 26th September 

Official WASSCE 2023/2024 start date Released

SHS 1

27th Feb., 2023  to 13th April., 2023       BREAK 14th April, 2023 8th June, 2023  But now changed to 6th April, 2023

Reopens 9th June, 2023 -10th Aug., 2023       BREAK  11th Aug., 2023 17th Sept., 2023

18th Sept. 2023 30th Nov. 2023 END OF ACADEMIC YEAR

SHS 2

10th Jan. 2023 17th Feb. 2023        BREAK 18th Feb., 2023 10th April, 2023

11th April, 2023 1st June, 2023     BREAK 2nd June, 2023 13th Aug., 2023

14th Aug. 2023 30th Nov. 2023 END OF ACADEMIC YEAR

The letter Reads

Easter break for second-cycle schools.

Management wishes to remind Heads of all Senior High Schools / Senior High Technical Schools that students should break on Thursday April 6th, 2023 for the Easter holidays

Management also wish to inform all Heads of Second cycle School running the transitional calendar that SHS one student are two continue with the vacation onto their schedule reopening in June 2023.

Regional directors are by this letter directed to ensure that the heads of second cycle schools in their respective regions take notes and comply accordingly to facilitate a smooth running of the academic year.
